Laxmi Bank Visa Debit Card can be used in 2.5 million merchant outlets for the purchase of goods or services & approximately in 400,000 ATMs across Nepal and India that display the “Visa” logo. This card is designed to offer you security and convenience in managing your personal finances.

As a security measure, we advise you to sign on the reverse of the Card immediately and also change your PIN during your visit to a Laxmi Bank ATM. The debit card is EMV card and is a Chip and PIN module. Thus, you will have to enter your 4 digit PIN at the merchant location to process your transaction.

The card is also Verified by Visa (VbV).

Verified by Visa is a unique service offered by Visa International that uses a One Time PIN (OTP) to protect a cardholder against unauthorised use. Once activated, your Visa Card number cannot be used for online purchases at participating Merchants without the One Time PIN (OTP) that is sent via SMS to your mobile phone that is registered with the Bank. The ATM card allows the cardholder to withdraw cash, inquire about account balance, print mini statements and transfer funds between accounts. The card can also be used to pay for purchases in various stores, restaurants, shops and other merchant establishments having Point of Sales (PoS) terminals. The Card has unique feature of cardless cash which can be used in any of the Laxmi Bank’s ATM to remit fund.

Verified by Visa is a unique service offered by Visa International that uses a One Time PIN (OTP) to protect a cardholder against unauthorised use. Once activated, your Visa Card number cannot be used for online purchases at participating Merchants without the One Time PIN (OTP) that is sent via a SMS to your mobile phone that is registered with the Bank. Alternatively, you can also choose to receive the OTP at your registered Email address.

Verified by Visa is designed to give you an extra level of protection against unauthorised card use when making online purchases with your Laxmi Bank Visa Card. This is also called a 2 Factor Authentication which means you need access to both - your card and mobile phone and/or email, to complete an online payment.

There are two ways to register your card to VbV services:

  1. Go to Laxmi Bank’s 3D Secure Service page by visiting 3D Secure Services and complete the simple registration process.
    or
  2. You can also register your card and activate the service at the time of entering your payment details at the participating Verified by Visa Merchant (Online Store):
    1. After finalizing your purchase online store and proceed to the payment page.
    2. Enter the payment details requested including your card number.
    3. The online store connects with Laxmi Bank’s 3D Secure Service site to check whether your card is secured with "Verified by Visa".
    4. A "Verified by Visa" pop-up window will appear on your computer screen showing the merchant name, amount, date, your Visa card number and the welcome message.
    5. You will get a OTP on your registered mobile number or Email address.
    6. Check that the details mentioned on the page are correct, and enter your OTP. The Bank will then confirm your identity to the merchant.
    7. Your registration process is complete and your payment will be authorized.

"Verified by Visa" is available as soon as your registration is confirmed successful by the Bank.

Online Merchants (Stores) will display the logo on their website (or payment page). These sites will automatically recognize that your card is registered for the service.

This would imply that the online merchant is not yet enrolled in the Verified by Visa service. You can choose to use this merchant and complete your transaction however it is strongly recommended that all online commerce be done only with trusted merchants.

Yes, you can register for "Verified by Visa" with your existing valid Laxmi Bank Visa Debit Card.

In case of a renewal card (card number is the same as you previous card) your earlier registration will continue to be valid. However, if you receive a new card (with a new number) then you will need to re-register your new card by following the steps mentioned above.
